Read it from the top and something is wrong. Funan carries 18 shops. Changi Airport Terminal 3 carries 6. Sim Lim Square — six floors of electronics, the building any buyer in Asia names first when you say Singapore — carries 4.
That is not a ranking of where Singapore buys electronics. It is a ranking of which buildings have been entered into OpenStreetMap shop by shop. Funan reopened in 2019 and was mapped as it reopened. Sim Lim Square has stood since 1987, and on the map it is one building with a handful of shops inside it.
So the 46 % is true as a measurement and misleading as a conclusion. It does not mean Singapore trades its electronics inside malls more than anywhere else. It means Singapore's malls are named polygons, and some of them have been filled in.
We publish the number with its contradiction attached. A number without its contradiction is a claim we cannot support — and the first Singaporean to read this page would know it.
